Birtley Sculpture Park

Druantia, our Celtic Tree Goddess, travelled down to Birtley Sculpture Park, near Guildford, to be installed in their annual exhibition.

The Sculpture Garden is the largest temporary exhibition in Surrey, & this year will showcase 170 exhibits by 58 sculptors from across the UK, in a wide variety of media & styles.

Below is the poem on which the sculpture is based. Originally written as a children’s poem, is describes the life of a fisherman, showing how one’s profession becomes such a large part of a person’s life.

  • Druantia has been given a great position in the Orchard, next to an ancient Medlar Tree, which formed a natural sculpture in it’s own right!
  • The exhibition will be open daily 11am – 5pm from Saturday 2nd May - Sunday 31st May. With free entry, a children’s quiz, dogs welcome & wheelchair access, it really is an exhibition for the whole family

Throughout the exhibition, the participating artists will be taking turns to steward the exhibition, some also demonstrating their art techniques whilst there, including myself on 24th May.
