Church Lane Gallery, Banbury
The Church Lane Gallery in Banbury opened its doors to the public at a Launch Event on Friday 24th February. The event was well attended with many of the exhibiting artists greeting guests & talking about their work.
The pop up art gallery is believed to be the first dedicated art gallery in Banbury & has been organised by Baz Whitehouse, who also runs The Artery - the only art supply shop in the town. Support for the venue has been given by Iain Nicholson & Neil Wild, Banbury Town Team Coordinators.
Work by exhibiting artists has been hand selected to provide a mix of art styles & mediums:
- David Blakemore - oil paintings
- Steve Green - urban art
- Pamela Fyvie - glass artist
- Diana Sainsbury - ceramicist
- Liz Dixon - textile sculpture & wall art
- Melanie Charles - animal artist
- Barry Whitehouse - artist
The Gallery currently plans to be open until the end of March 2017, but i is hoped that it will prove successful & remain open for longer.
Current opening times are:
- Mondays 10am - 3pm
- Thursdays 10am - 1pm
- Fridays 10am - 4pm
- Saturdays 10am - 4pm
Also, look out for the upcoming Banbury Art Festival which will take place on 11th June this year at Spiceball Park, to coincide with the Banbury & District Show. At least 25 artists & artisans will be running demonstrations throughout the day, giving an insight into how they create their art.
